Robert Balkin is PMG’s advisor based in Mexico. He is an attorney, journalist, and political analyst who specializes in U.S. and Latin American politics, the rule of law and the media. He has written and lectured widely on electoral campaigns and legislative-press relations. Mr. Balkin teaches communications, elections and North American topics at the Tecnológico de Monterrey. During 2011-2012, Mr. Balkin served as Director of Media and Civil Society Programs for the Merida Initiative ́s Security and Justice Program in Mexico. In the 1990s, Mr. Balkin worked as Editor in Chief of The Hotline, a political news service which he helped found in Washington, DC. As an attorney, he has practiced federal and state election law. Mr. Balkin received his A.B. in History from the University of Michigan and J.D. from Georgetown University. He is a member of the District of Columbia bar.
