A COMMITMENT TO INNOVATION, INTEGRITY, AND SERVICE
The Public Management Group/US (PMG) is the hub and incubator of a global network of locally-owned management consulting firms, established in and run by professionals from their respective countries. All PMG entities provide an array of management services related to:
- Public policy development and implementation;
- Technical support for contractual, regulatory, and social responsibility compliance;
- Analytic services (e.g., program/project assessments, project designs, and monitoring and evaluation services);
- Strategic communications;
- Project management; and
- Civic engagement on behalf of country governments, non-profit, privately-owned entities and international development organizations.
PMG partners and associates work across borders, drawing upon their collective expertise in public sector management, international development, and private sector experience, to ensure each PMG program results in measurable impact, complies with the highest international business standards and sustains critical in-country institutions that contribute to the public good.
PMG has representation in South Africa, Mexico, and Indonesia and plans to add 4 additional affiliates over the next 24 months.
Over the last decade, many emerging nations/transitioning countries have experienced significant economic growth. Concurrently, public sector spending for the delivery of services, strategic planning functions, project implementation, policy integration, and monitoring and evaluation of public sector expenditures also is growing globally. However, many of the governments of countries growing economically and international donors and private sector organizations investing in international development have identified a significant barrier to utilizing country-based firms as implementing organizations for local growth-related initiatives – they lack effective and accountable internal operating and management systems. The essence of PMG’s value is its centrally-administered operational management platform that is based on International Standards Organization (ISO) protocols for meeting quality management standards (ISO category 9001). This platform assures that PMG-affiliated local firms are meeting the highest international standards in accountability while adhering to best practices in customer-focused quality management.
Providing this platform is a critical function of the PMG/US “Hub,” in addition to providing “back office support,” software and training to build this capacity. PMG/US is systematically working with its country-based affiliates to establish talent recognition and development systems that are best-in- class and based on the processes used by the most progressive for-profit companies working in domains in which human capital is a source of competitive advantage. PMG’s talent recognition emphasizes learning agility, leadership skills, and development potential along with technical expertise required to deliver services (or products).
“Shared value” is a concept first popularized by the well-known business professor Michael Porter. Its central thesis holds that businesses in the 21st century have to create external value to society as well as financial value for shareholders in order not only to be popular with the public but also to survive as viable business entities. The creation, growth, and success of the PMG network is envisioned to create a legacy, external to the financial success of the company, that will contribute to the economic and political development of the countries in which it works.
